Join us on Oct. 13, 6-8 p.m., at Lubin House for a reading and talk by four writers featured in Syracuse University's arts and literary journal, Stone Canoe, which has enjoyed remarkable critical and popular success in its six-year history. Stone Canoe showcases the work of writers and artists with some current or historical connection
to the Upstate New York region, and has been described by George Saunders as "a constant force for good on the American literary landscape". The journal has been a medalist in the Independent Book Publishers' Awards in 2007, 2008 and 2010, and is distinguished by its artful design as well as its provocative content.

The four Stone Canoe authors reading on Oct. 13th will be Henry Allen, Harriet Brown, Randy Cohen, and Charles Martin. Allen, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism in 2000, is a novelist, poet, artist and former feature writer for The Washington Post. Brown is a poet and prize-winning journalist whose latest book, "Brave Girl Eating," is a landmark study of anorexia. Cohen, a four-time Emmy winner for his writing for David Letterman and Michael Moore, wrote "The Ethicist" column for The New York Times and is currently developing an NPR series on ethics. Martin, most recently the author of "Signs and
Wonders," a new book of poems by Johns Hopkins Press, is a three-time Pulitzer prize nominee and authoritative translator of Ovid and Catullus, and is currently preparing a translation of the Bhagavad Gita for publication in 2012. The collective work of these writers is representative of the quality and diversity that characterizes the content of each issue of Stone Canoe.
