The Syracuse University undergraduate entrepreneurship and emerging enterprises program in the Whitman School of Management is highlighted in Entrepreneur Magazine's article on the top 25 undergraduate and top 25 graduate programs in the Princeton Review annual ranking. Also, a Post-Standard Dick Case column on Chadwick Residence notes the Whitman School's arrangement with the nonprofit transitional housing group for students to work with residents.

Marketwire reported on the new social entrepreneurship collaboration between the Whitman School, the Mary Ann Shaw Center for Public and Community Service (CPCS) and AltruHelp, a social media platform, toolbox and online community to support volunteering and corporate social responsibility. The partnership will provide students with an opportunity to experience the real world of social entrepreneurship and support the growth of AltruHelp, co-founded by Whitman alumni Mathew Paisner '07 and Michael Saris '07. Tom Lumpkin, the Chris J. Witting Chair in Entrepreneurship at Whitman, and Pamela Heintz, associate vice president and director of CPCS, are quoted.

The Central New York Business Journal reported on a five-year, $500,000 grant from the Commerce Department to expand the Syracuse Student Sandbox incubator at the Syracuse Tech Garden. The Sandbox is a business incubator for student entrepreneurs from several area colleges and universities.

The Central New York Business Journal reported on the announcement that the Syracuse Center of Excellence headquarters has received the highest LEED® rating-Platinum-level certification-established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute. Also, the Syracuse CoE hosting its 11th annual Symposium on Environmental and Energy Systems at the Oncenter Complex in downtown Syracuse was reported by Syracuse.com.

A Post-Standard feature on the Syracuse Philharmonic Society mentions SU's new Center for Live Music in the 21st Century and notes the roles of Jeffry Comanici, assistant dean for advancement in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA), and Daniel Hege, VPA professor of practice, in the Philharmonic.

Maxwell School Dean James Steinberg was interviewed by Asahi.com (Japan) about U.S. leadership around the globe following 9/11.

Dana Spiotta, assistant professor of English in The College of Arts and Sciences, was interviewed on NPR's Fresh Air program about her new novel, "Stone Arabia." Spiotta will be featured in an upcoming Raymond Carver Reading Series presentation Sept. 28.

David Cay Johnston, distinguished visiting lecturer in the College of Law, was a guest recently on MSNBC's "Ed Show" discussing right-wing talk show hosts and taxes. Johnston's work is also referenced in a St. Louis Post-Dispatch editorial column on the proposed millionaire's tax.

The Christian Science Monitor and YNN (watch clip) quote Anthony Rotolo, assistant professor of practice in the School of Information Studies (iSchool), on Facebook changes. Also, Rotolo is quoted in a CNY Central story on the role of social media in college admissions.

S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications student Marie Hankinson is quoted in an Associated Press story on American students studying abroad.

Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, authored a Fox News op-ed on the potential for a Charlie Sheen comeback and is quoted in The Observer (U.K.) story on female stars in movies and sitcoms and in a Los Angeles Times story about "Contagion" and other movies featuring killer viruses.
