Volunteers needed to help collect donations to complete veterans' homes on Near West Side

Syracuse University is helping to 'raise the roof' for Habitat for Humanity by asking students, faculty and staff to collect donations needed to complete two veterans' homes under construction on Syracuse's Near West Side. Once completed, the homes—located at 113 and 115 Fitch St.—will be available to local veterans with disabilities and their families. Syracuse Habitat for Humanity expects this project to be a model for other Veteran’s Builds across New York state. More than $50,000 in donations is needed to complete this project.

habitatVolunteers will be asked to hold collection cans at various locations on campus and at entrances in the Carrier Dome prior to the Saturday, Sept. 10, SU vs. Rhode Island football game. Volunteers will receive a free ticket to the SU vs. Rhode Island game and free parking in Booth Garage.

Volunteers are asked to arrive at the lobby in the Physics Building by 12:45 p.m. The football game begins at 4:30 p.m. The collection drive will end at kickoff.
