As an integral part of SU’s Syracuse Welcome, Orientation Leaders are a select group of 44 student leaders. Highly visible during Opening Weekend, Orientation Leaders (OLs) are representatives of the University who work with faculty and staff members to help new students, family and friends have a smooth and seamless transition into the intellectual, cultural, and social climate of Syracuse University; provide essential information that will help them to become successful and well informed members of the Syracuse University community; and, engage new students in a variety of First-Year Experience programs. 

OLs accomplish this by planning events for first-year, transfer, and commuter students; being peer-mentors during pre-orientation programs; serving as "Goon Captains" during move-in days; engaging new students in a myriad of events and activities during Syracuse Welcome; helping new students learn about SU's history and traditions; facilitating discussions about student success in college; and designing and implementing community service initiatives with first-year students.
