Robert A. Rubinstein, professor of anthropology and international relations in the Maxwell School, made a presentation on culture and conflict management to the 10^th Sustainment Brigade of the 10^th Mountain Division of the United States Army at Fort Drum on July 20. Rubinstein’s presentation was part of the Brigade’s preparation for deployment to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In bringing an anthropological perspective to these issues, Rubinstein's research and publications in medical and political anthropology have anticipated the significance of methods and frameworks for peace and conflict studies in the dynamics of the global war on terror, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan.
