Office of Student Activities names Kerry W. Foxx associate director
The Office of Student Activities at Syracuse University has announced the appointment of Kerry W. Foxx as the new associate director of student activities, effective June 1.
In this role, Foxx will be responsible for assisting student organizations with their leadership and development skills, as well as coordinating the divisional Student Leadership Institute.
“We are very fortunate to bring someone like Kerry Foxx, who has an extensive background in student leadership development, to Syracuse University,” says David Sargalski, director of student activities. “Kerry’s expertise in student leadership will greatly enhance and expand our current programming.”
Prior to his appointment, Foxx served as assistant director in the Center for Career and Community Engagement at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Ore., where he directed the leadership development, community service and service learning programs. He has extensive experience advising students from diverse backgrounds, as well as student organizations. He has also taught a number of courses on leadership, leadership theory and most recently on the intersections among leadership, cultural competence and citizenship.
Foxx is an active member of NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. In 2010, he received the NASPA Region V Outstanding New Professional Award.
A native of Lynchburg, Va., Foxx received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Elon University and his master’s degree in counselor education from Clemson University.
