The Central New York Business Journal reported on the new funding provided to Lawrence Tavlarides, professor of chemical engineering and materials science at the L. C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science, to explore energy-saving ideas in transportation.

Forbes quotes Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, on the economic impact of Oprah Winfrey's departure from daytime television. Thompson also spoke with WTOP-AM in Washington, D.C. (listen to clip), 9WSYR (watch clip) and the Christian Science Monitor about Winfrey's influence on people's lives through her talk show and cultural empire.
