Student Association to provide student busing to Wegmans and Target
New service will give students without transportation access to groceries and other items not available on campus
The Syracuse University and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry Student Association has announced student busing to Wegmans and Target from campus. Every Saturday, starting March 5, buses will run from College Place to the Target in Fayetteville and the Wegmans in DeWitt. Buses will not run March 12 and 19 because of spring break.
Buses will run every hour, on the hour, starting at 1 p.m., with the last bus leaving College Place at 5 p.m. The buses will then stop at the Goldstein Student Center on South Campus and proceed to Target and Wegmans.
Pick-up times are 28 minutes after the hour at Target, and 40 minutes after the hour at Wegmans. The last two bus runs will be pick-up only, leaving Target at 5:28 p.m. and 6:28 p.m., and Wegmans at 5:40 p.m. and 6:40 p.m., then returning to Goldstein Student Center and College Place.
This service is a trial run, ending April 30. If it is deemed successful by Student Association and SU’s Office of Student Activities, the service will continue next semester.
Each bus has a maximum capacity of 49 passengers. Students are strongly encouraged to plan their time wisely, as any student missing the last bus back to campus will be responsible for finding their own transportation home.
Student Association is the official student governing body of SU and SUNY-ESF undergraduate students. Student Association assembly meetings are held Mondays at 7:30 p.m., in Maxwell Auditorium. All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend. Email Student Association at syracusesa@gmail.com, follow SA on Twitter at @SAatSU and on Facebook at “SU Student Association.”
