MLK Celebration will culminate with Jan. 29 community event

Syracuse University’s 26th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will culminate on Saturday, Jan. 29, with its annual community celebration.

“Continuing the Journey: A Celebration of Arts, Culture and Education in the Syracuse Community,” will be held from 1-4 p.m. at the Seymour Dual Language Academy, 108 Shonnard St. The event is hosted by SU, the Syracuse Inner City Rotary Club and various community organizations.

The afternoon will feature performances by several groups, including the Dr. King School Choir, Creative Arts Academy, SU’s Black Celestial Choral Ensemble and more; workshops featuring quilting, drumming, break dancing, golfing; storytelling by SU football players; and information on community organizations. Kenneth Baxter, vice principal at Danforth Magnet School, will offer remarks.
