SU Women’s Choir to present free concert Dec. 2

The Syracuse University Women’s Choir will present its end-of-semester concert Thursday, Dec. 2, at 8 p.m. in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, Crouse College. The concert is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the Irving Garage.

The Women’s Choir performs under the direction of Barbara M. Tagg, faculty member in the Setnor School of Music in SU’s College of Visual and Performing Arts. Benjamin Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols” will open the concert, with featured guest artist Deette
Bunn, harpist. Soloists for the work include SU students Julie Gibli, Sarah Tracy, Tess Cooper, Alexandra Gray, Johna Kesten and Elizabeth Newlove.

Stephen Heyman, a faculty member in the Setnor School, will be the featured guest pianist for Debussy’s “Noël des enfants n’ont plus de maison.” Other works to be performed include Bach’s “Ich steh’ an diner Krippen hier” from the Christmas Oratorio,
“Kalla, Kalla” from “Five Hebrew Love Songs” by Eric Whitacre, and works by Craig Hella Johnson, Robert Lowry and Joan Szymko, as well as an arrangement of “My Favorite Things.”
