Rothschild promoted to associate dean of admissions
Nancy Machles Rothschild has been promoted to the position of associate dean of admissions, effective Sept. 1.
Rothschild's career at the University began more than 30 years ago as assistant director of the metropolitan New York admissions office. Since then, she has served in positions of increasing responsibility, including acting director of the New York office, associate director of admissions and most recently (2000-present), the assistant dean of admissions. Her numerous contributions include a strategic role in the continued increase in the quality and number of undergraduates, the creation of the College Relations Council and Summer/Junior Campus Days and key involvement in the implementation of both paperless application review and PeopleSoft (for areas of recruitment and admissions).
In this newest role, Rothschild will continue to oversee the operational aspects of the admissions office, but with the added responsibility for acting as a senior advisor to the dean of undergraduate admissions and vice president of enrollment management on policy matters and on the setting of recruitment and admissions priorities. She’ll also continue to represent the University within various professional and service organizations, including NYSACAC Programming Committees, NACAC and NYSACAC.
Overall, her vast institutional knowledge, collaborative leadership style and strong organizational and operational oversight will serve SU well in the rapidly evolving field of recruitment and retention.
