SU launches nation’s first collegiate chapter of Women in Sports and Events

Women in Sports and Events (WISE), the leading voice and resource for women in the sports and events industry, announced Syracuse University’s Department of Sport Management in the College of Human Ecology would be the home of its first collegiate chapter in the nation.

WISEThe WISE-SU chapter will hold an informational meeting on Oct. 30 at 10:30 a.m. in HBC Kittredge Auditorium. All female students interested in the sports and events industry are invited to attend.

Mentoring, networking and social opportunities, and philanthropic and community-focused involvement will be integral components of the WISE-SU chapter. SU alums Kathrine Switzer ’68, G‘72, the first woman to run the Boston Marathon, and Laurie Orlando ‘87, senior vice president for talent planning and development for ESPN, along with other local and national female leaders in the industry, will be actively involved in this organization.
