Syracuse Stage open house planned for Sept. 26

Syracuse Stage has announced plans for its 2009 Open House, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26. Festivities will include guided backstage tours; a tech demonstration in the Archbold Theatre; open dress rehearsals of “The Song from the Sea,” this year’s Bank of America Children’s Tour; and complimentary refreshments served by Dolce Vita World Bistro, Phoebe’s Restaurant & Coffee Lounge and Strong Hearts Café. Visitors will also have a first-look at the refurbished Archbold Theatre with new seat cushions, fresh paint, updated lighting and new carpeting. All events will be free and open to the public.

“All are invited to come to the theater, bring your families for lunch, and see where the magic happens,” says Producing Artistic Director Timothy Bond. “You’ll see where the sets are built, where the costumes are sewn, where the props are painted and how lights and sound work together to create an environment or feeling. The 2009 Open House will be an inside look at how professional theaters tell stories on stage—and a great time!”

All events during Stage’s 2009 Open House will be appropriate for families. The open dress rehearsal of “The Song from the Sea” is recommended for ages pre-k and up.
